My name is OOO...
이런 식의 시작은 아마 같이 인터뷰를 준비하는 사람들이 수도 없이 사용하고 있을 것입니다. 면접 또는 시험을 준비하신다면 잠시만 입장을 바꿔놓고 생각해 보세요.
감독관이라면 이 서두를 듣는 순간 한 가지 생각을 합니다. “그래 시작하는 구나!”
자 그럼 띵크와 함께하는 우리는 조금 달라져 봅시다.
Where should I start... 어디서부터 시작해 볼까요!
Simply you can say that I'm (나의 타입) person. 간단히 당신은 날 이런 사람으로 보면 됩니다.
위의 두 표현만으로도 감독관들의 귀는 솔깃해 질 것입니다.
왜냐하면 갑자기 다른 형식으로 전개되는 것에 흥미를 느끼기 때문입니다.
자기 소개에 들어가는 것들을 정리하면,
1. 이름, 나이, 학력
2. 취미, 특기
3. 입사면접이라면 이유, 목적 / 시험이라면 시험을 치루는 이유, 목적
4. 마지막 인사
이 틀을 깰 수는 없습니다. 하지만 틀 안에서 변화를 주는 것은 간단합니다.
이름, 나이, 학력
My name is OOO... 대신
OOO is my given name which has the meaning of (자기 이름의 뜻).
나이
I'm (나이) years old. 대신
자신의 나이를 비유하는 것을 말하면서 소개
예) I'm hitting a black jack in my life. 블랙잭은 21을 뜻하죠!
학력
여기에선 전공과 학교 이름을 한꺼번에 간단히 서술하면 됩니다.
두 번째로 이유와 목적의 도입부분은...
My purpose to applying....
The reason to enter...
이런 식으로 시작하면 됩니다. 조금 다르고 싶다면
I believe that this company will strengthen my ability...
I hope I can enlarge the opportunity to develop...
이런 식으로 장황하고 조금 웅장하게 갈 수도 있습니다.
마지막으로 끝인사는 포인트가 있어야 합니다.
그러므로 초반부에 말한 자신의 이름의 뜻과 나이에 맞춰 회사에서 자신을 또는 시험에서 자신을 좋게 기억하고 좋은 점수를 줄 수 있도록 강한 한 문장을 만들어야 합니다.
Model answers:
A: I'm (name), (age) years old. I graduated (major e.g. Business Administration) at (school e.g. Seoul National University) in (year).
I have Masters/ Doctorate in (Major e.g. Business Administration that I earned) from (school e.g. Busan National University)
B: I’m (name), (age) years old. I graduated (the field of Business Administration) at Seoul National University in ’98.
I have Masters/Doctorate in (field Business Administration that I earned at (school e.g. Busan National University)
Hobbies: 특기, 취미
I love:
to read books by (writer e.g. Tolstoy ) because (reason e.g. his ideas about the society are timeless. )
to hit the gym three times a week.
mountain hiking. I love the view atop (mountain).
to scuba dive and snorkel.
to go bar hopping.
window-shopping.
having a couple of round with my friends at our favorite hang- out (drink at favorite bar)
listening to music. (genre e.g. rock ) is my type of music.
to see movies by (actor or actress)
I’m a:
sea lover and I go to the beach whenever I can.
stamp collector. I have a collection of 400 18th century stamps.
gym- goer. I work out three days a week.
book worm. I love Stephen King novels.
movie enthusiast. I saw all/most of (artist e.g. Tom Cruise's movies)
nature lover. I love watching the sunset.
I’m an avid fan of (idol/ entertainment personality)
I’m not much into (field e.g. sports but I’m an avid fan of) (team e.g. the Korea national football team)
In my humble opinion, I’m a dependable person and I can get the job done. In whatever I do,
I try to do my best. I’m a team player, and you can lean on me when times are tough.
Note: In some cases, the interviewer asks, “Describe yourself.” When answering this question, you have to focus more on your character.
Example:
1. I can describe myself as hard- working, patient, trustworthy …
2. The best description I can have for myself is that I am a very outgoing person. It is very easy for me to get along with people. I am very dedicated to my job and I can work under pressure.
