The Case of the Stolen Diamonds
It was midnight. Clean, white snow lay all around.
A man dressed in black came to the fabulous Van pelt mansion.
He climbed over the wall.
He was the famous thief Willie the Weasel.
His sack was full of jewels.
He stuffed the last diamond necklace into His sack
Willie went out the gate
He headed for his secret cave.
"I'm so clever. No one can find me."
As he walked along he sang.
He had a terrible voice.
"Off I go in the deep, White snow. Where I go they'll never know. When I get home, I'll count my bought."
Soon Mrs. Van Pelt came home.
She saw the empty safe.
Horrified, she telephoned the famous detective Harry Herbert.
"I've been robbed. My money, my diamond! I'll never see them again."
"Calm yourself, Madame. Kindly tell me who you are."
"I'm Mrs. Van Pelt of the Van Pelt family. You must help me; Mr. Herbert You must catch the thief tonight."
"I promise you I'll catch the thief, but not tonight. You must wait until morning."
Harry Herbert kept his word.
The next morning he surprised Willie in his secret cave.
"How did you find me?"
"Willie, Look around you."
"There's snow on the ground. I just followed your footprints to your secret cave.
"How could I have been so stupid?"
"If you were more intelligent, you wouldn't be a thief. Now give back the diamonds and off to jail you go."
Herbert snapped the handcuffs on Willie.
1. 도둑맞은 다이아몬드의 상자
자정이었다. 깨끗하고 하얀 눈이 온통 내려있었다.
검은 옷을 입은 한 남자가 유명한 반 펠트 맨션으로 들어갔다.
그는 담을 넘었다.
그는 유명한 도둑 Willie the Weasel이었다.
윌리는 거실에 있는 금고를 털었다.
그의 자루는 보석으로 가득 찼다.
그는 그의 자루에 마지막 다이아몬드 목걸이를 집어넣었다.
윌리는 문으로 나갔다.
그는 그의 비밀동굴로 향했다.
"난 정말 똑똑해. 아무도 날 찾을 수 없지."
그는 혼자 걸으며 노래 불렀다.
그는 끔찍한 목소리를 갖고 있었다.
"깊고 하얀 눈을 밟으며, 내가 어딜 가든 아무도 알 수 없지. 집에 도착했을 때, 내 boght를 셀 거야.
"곧 반 펠트부인이 집으로 돌아왔다.
그녀는 텅 빈 금고를 보았다.
겁에 질린 채, 그녀는 유명한 탐정 해리 허버트에게 전화했다.
"도둑맞았어요. 내 돈, 내 다이아몬드! 그것들을 다신 못 볼 거야."
"진정해요, 부인. 천천히 당신이 누군지 말 해봐요."
"난 반펠트가의 반펠트부인이에요. 당신은 무조건 날 도와야 해요, 허버트씨. 당신은 오늘밤 그 도둑을 잡아야만해요."
"그 도둑을 잡을 것이라고 약속드리겠지만, 오늘밤은 아닙니다. 당신은 아침까지 기다려야 해요."
해리 허버트는 약속을 지켰다.
다음날 아침 그는 윌리의 비밀동굴에서 그를 놀래 켰다.
"어떻게 날 찾았지?"
"간단해, 윌리. 주위를 좀 봐."
"땅에 눈이 쌓였지. 난 단지 너의 비밀 동굴까지 네 발자국을 따라왔을 뿐이야."
"어쩜 그렇게 멍청한 짓을 했을까?"
"니가 좀 더 똑똑했더라면, 넌 도둑이 되지 않았겠지. 이제 다이아몬드를 돌려주고 감옥으로 가야지."
허버트는 윌리에게 수갑을 채웠다.
